Four Bison score 15 points or more in win over Penn St.-Berks

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's basketball team won 82-59 here Saturday against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division rival Penn St.-Berks, in front of a packed alumni audience at the Field House. The game was a preview of next Tuesday's NEAC tournament first round game that GU will host at a time to be determined.

Gallaudet had four players score in double digits, led by junior Raymond Nelson (Riverside, Calif.) with 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. Seniors Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.) and Todd Bonheyo (Frederick, Md.) along with junior center Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) added 15 points each. Bonheyo was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the 3-point arc as he shot 75 percent from the field. McGriff played a stellar game in the post, with a dunk to begin the game and pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds.

The Bison (16-7, 13-4 NEAC) gave a full team effort in the game, but missed opportunities to advance their lead in the first half that allowed the Nittany Lions (8-16, 8-10 NEAC) to stick around and come within just two points of the Bison score, 27-25 at the 6:18 mark. GU was able to pull away after a 3-pointer from senior forward Brandon Holsworth (Beal City, Mich.) made it 42-31 heading into halftime.

The Nittany Lions were unable to catch up after that, never getting within eight points, as GU held a comfortable lead for the majority of the second half.
