GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's cross country team was picked 11th in the 2017 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) preseason coaches poll released Wednesday. The Bison accumulated 53 team points in the 13-team poll.
Gallaudet finished 12th at the 2016 NEAC championships last year hosted by Lancaster Bible College.
SUNY Cobleskill edged out the four-time defending NEAC champion SUNY Poly for the No. 1 spot. The Fighting Tigers garnered six first-place votes and 130 points to best the Wildcats by two points and one additional first-place vote. Morrisville State College (MSC) was third with 105 points and two first-place votes. Lancaster Bible (84) and Penn College (83) round out the top five.
The Bison begin the season Sept. 9, in Morrisville, N.Y., at the Morrisville State Invitational. GU will get a sneak peak of the NEAC championship course as MSC will host the conference championships on Oct. 28 where all 13 teams will compete.

The preseason poll rankings were conducted by the NEAC men's cross country coaches, with each coach ranking out all teams but their own using a staggered points system (13 points for a first-place vote, 12 points for second, etc.). No self-voting was allowed. This is the third year the NEAC has held preseason polls.
