Bison place fifth at Howard University Labor Day Classic

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's cross country season got underway here Saturday morning at Kenilworth Park as the Bison ran in the Howard University Labor Day Classic. The Bison placed fifth out of five teams, mainly Division I programs, as they accumulated 146 team points.

The host Bison from Howard University won the meet with 36 points followed by The Catholic University of America (44 points), Morgan State University (77) and University of Maryland Eastern Shore (78). Howard sophomore Gavin Williams won the 5K race, that featured 51 runners, in 16 minutes, 16.42 seconds. The Howard Bison had three of the top five runners in the meet.

Gallaudet was led by sophomore Jared Spinale (Camby, Ind.) who finished 35th overall with a time of 20:37.84. Fellow sophomore Liam Painter (Edgewood, N.M.) was five spots back in 40th place (21:58.93) while junior Dalton Attanasi (Hammonton, N.J.) crossed in 43rd place (22:42.97). 

The fourth Gallaudet Bison to finish was freshman Robert Saligman (Philadelphia, Pa.) in 46th place (23:42.99). Gallaudet's final team points were earned by freshman Jordan Kray (Vallejo, Calif.) in 47th place (23:52.77).


Gallaudet is off next week before it will run at Colmar Manor Community Park in the Cardinal Classic hosted by Catholic on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m.
