GU rolls past Yeshiva as Levesque sets goalie mark

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team rolled to an 8-0 victory over Yeshiva University here Sunday afternoon at Purchase College.

Gallaudet (2-2) dominated the game from the start as the buff and blue scored twice in the first five minutes and never looked back. Sophomore midfielder Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) fresh off a four-goal performance on Saturday against Saint Elizabeth scored the first two goals of the game. 

The Bison continued to place shots on the Yeshiva goal and found the back of the net four more times in the first half.  

Junior Sharon Castillo (Dallas, Texas) scored in the 10th minute followed by a goal by freshman Henrianne Jansen (Apeldoorn, Netherlands) two minutes later. Neild completed a hat trick in the 14th minute as GU led 5-0.

Freshman Courtney Gentzke (Honeoye, N.Y.) got in the scorebook in the 34th and 43rd minutes, respectively with goals as Gallaudet took a 7-0 lead into halftime. 

In the second half, Gallaudet added one more goal when junior Eve Wood-Jacobowitz (Frederick, Md.) received a nice through pass from Neild to knock in a goal pass Yeshiva goalie Katheryn Weinberg (five saves).

GU senior goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) earned the win and the shutout, her 10th and a new school record. In back-to-back wins this weekend, Levesque set Gallaudet's wins and shutout career records for a goalie. Levesque now has 19 career wins and 10 career shutouts.
